Minimally Invasive Procedure For Painful Hammertoes

Are you struggling with painful hammertoes? Pain may be coming from rubbing on shoes, calluses formed at the end of the toes, or even arthritis. There are varying causes of hammertoes and different types require different treatment.

Conservative treatment options includes shoes adjustments, toe padding, orthotics and activity modifications. If conservative treatments fail, surgery may be considered.

Certain types of hammertoes may be a good candidate for a minimally invasive tendon release. This is a simple in office procedure that can be performed on the same day of your appointment. After the procedure, you can walk in a supportive shoe that day. Immediately after this is performed the contracture can be significantly reduced decreasing pain on the end or top of the toe. In about a week you can begin increasing activities slowly as tolerated.

At Salt Lake City Foot & Ankle clinic Dr. Goebel and Dr. Packard are trained in a wide variety of conservative and surgical approaches to correct painful hammertoes including minimally invasive flexor tendon release. Contact our office for a full evaluation at 801-274-9060.
